James tutored our son Harry in preparation for his Biology 'A' level. Not only did James' tutoring increase Harry's knowledge, it also improved his confidence. James' experience of the exam system and what is required to achieve a high grade was invaluable in optimising Harry's performance and Harry achieved the 'A' grade he needed for his chosen University course. Hi James, We just wanted to say a big “Thank you” for the support you gave to Olivia on the run up to her GCSE. You gave he the confidence she needed to gain her GCSE. She went on to Brockenhurst college and has now secured a place at Bournemouth Uni to study criminology.  

James was a really good tutor, he explained things in a way that made it easy to learn. He worked from the curriculum with our daughter, which was really useful for her exam preparation. She got the grade that she had aimed for and now has a place in her university of choice, studying Physiotherapy. 

In a nutshell, James is brilliant at what he does. He manages to make the more complex areas of the A level Biology spec, more palatable and motivated me to tackle areas that I would previously avoid. He goes through everything in detail, and leaves no stone unturned. That is why I achieved my target grade.    

During her A level studies my daughter was having particular issues progressing in Biology. We were recommended James, and results after working one-to-one with him were more than we had hoped for. James was extremely patient. His note taking and drawing style really helped to explain some of the more challenging concepts. He initially ascertained Georgie’s areas of weakness, and then applied his experience and subject knowledge to build her understanding. Georgie would look forward to the sessions and felt good after them. She quickly made progress. She achieved the required grades to go on to study to be a chiropractor.

James tutored my daughter throughout year 12, not only building her confidence and filling any gaps in her knowledge, but also venturing beyond the curriculum at times, fuelling her passion for the subject. She always enjoyed her online sessions with James, and I’m sure he’s part of the reason she’s hoping to study Biology at university, having achieved her A* grade. 

If we had to describe James’s tutoring in one word, it would be “GOLD”. We have two girls and live overseas. One has just completed her GCSE’s and the other is about to start. Not sure how he does it, but our daughters actually enjoy and look forward to the sessions they have with him. James’ calm attitude, sense of humour, along with his expert knowledge and experience all contribute to making learning fun. He always tailors each session to our girl’s needs dependant on which unit or topic they are currently studying at school. His use of analogies, stories and diagrams, which he shares, act as invaluable revision reference and make units and topics of work easier to understand. We don’t know how we would manage without James; every GCSE or A level student studying Science should have this experience.
